If you are a Masters you have powers. That is the first steadfast rule in our family. If you don't have powers by the time you reach majority, well to bad, you are no longer a Masters. You are stripped of the name and disowned. It has been this way for countless generations.
Family tradition states that at the age of 13 you must go on a Quest to manifest your powers. This is the second steadfast rule of the family. If you don't go on your Quest you risk being stripped of the name and disowned.
I REFUSED. I still manifested my powers. This will not end well.
Multiplicity - Rain has the ability to duplicate herself. When her power first manifests she will only be able to make one copy of herself. But after awhile she will be able to make more, with a maximum of 10 duplicates being able to be created at any one time. She is mentally linked to any duplicate she creates and can, at will, sense the same things they do. She can see through their eyes, hear through their ears, etc. Each duplicate is capable of independent action and thought, though do not have total free will that she does. Anything that they have, seen, heard or learned she remembers when they merge back into her. The duplicates have all her skills and memories, but only the original Rain has the power to multiply or power swap nor do the duplicates have the twinbond she does. Additionally, since the duplicates share a brain with Rain they don't have a psychic signature, aura and are pretty much just a part of the wall as far as psychics are concerned.
Power Swap - On physical contact with a powered person Ran can trade her Multiplicity power with that person and gets one of their powers in exchange. With the swap she gets the same level of ability to use it and an innate knowledge as to how. She just has to touch them, but doesn't need to stay in contact with them for the swap. In rare instances the person gets to keep their own power in addition to them gaining hers and her getting theirs. In those instances it is possible that the person's duplicates will have the powers of the original, minus the multiplying (on a roll of Great Success or better). The swap can last for upwards of an hour. Once the swap is over all multiples merge with the original and both the other person and Rainer go back to their original power sets.
Twin Bond - Even normal, perfectly mundane twins have a connection to each other. Sky's and Rain's are well beyond that. The pair have always been able to share thoughts, having no need for speaking or the sign language that he needs to communicate with other people. In addition they can share eyes and ears too. Each can see what the other sees and he can hear what she hears, but obviously not the other way around. Distance or obstacles has never been an issue to the pair.
Masters. Rainer Masters. Yes, the Masters family that have had gifted individuals in every generation since the 12th Century. I'm sure you know all the details so I won't bore you with the family history about power quests and how my parents meet at Coral Springs. Yawn! I will tell you about me though since that is what we are here for?right. Right??
The first thing you should know right off the bat is that I am a twin. Fraternal twin sure, but still a twin. Don't tell him I said so, but I am pretty sure he is the evil one. Yes he, my twin is a boy. I did say fraternal twin didn't I. And before you ask, yes, yes we do have that whole twin bond thing going on. It's very strong too. Not only are we able to share thoughts no matter how far apart we are, but we can see through each other's eyes and hear through each other's ears. Or rather he can hear through mine, but as he is deaf I can't hear through his.
Childhood was pretty normal, brothers, sisters, lessons, school. The Masters family is Richie Rich wealthy so we wanted for nothing. Lived on our own island, went to private school, blah, blah, blah. As my brother Sky and I grew older and the time of our Quest grew closer my parents started to put the pressure on me to decide what to do for my own power quest. They were determined that Sky shouldn't be required to do his quest because of his disability, so it was up to me to keep the family tradition going. I rebelled the only way I knew how. I encouraged Sky to go on his quest first. And I encouraged real hard. When he snuck out I covered for him. Told mom and dad what it took to keep them off his back. He needed this and I needed this. In hindsight probably not the best idea, but the past can't be changed.
You know back in the beginning when I said Sky and I have a twin bond. Well most of the time its great and all, but when he got hit by lightning and manifested, I felt it. Can I say damn here, because it felt like every cell in my body was on fire and his mental scream when it happened. I still have nightmares every once in a while. So goal accomplished, parents off my back, but my brother nearly had to die for that to happen. Not my proudest moment, and I still feel bad about it.
The inattention didn't last long though, I knew it wouldn't, but it gave Sky and I time to come up with a plan. It was simple really and Coral Springs was it. All we had to do was convince our parents that with all the power training and missions the teams go on there was bound to be something that would trigger my powers. And then all my parents would have to do is convince the Mistress at Coral Springs to accept a non-powered student. Nothing a little money won't fix right, or maybe the Clairaudience/Clairvoyance twin bound would be enough to at least get my foot in the door.
