The early beginnings of fall found the harvest goddess drowning in deep sorrow over the loss of her daughter, Persephone. In her seemingly endless loneliness, she disguised herself as an old crone and stumbled upon a young couple with a newborn baby. She plucked the child from his parents' arms and returned to her palace in Mount Olympus, guarding the secret of the mortal babe she had stolen from her fellow Olympians. That boy, called Lucas by his birth mother, was dubbed Loukanos by the goddess.
Demeter adored the boy and anointed him with ambrosia and laid him in the roaring flames of a hearth. It burned away at the boy's mortal soul, washing away what bound humans to gods. What remained was a new immortal, a spirit of rebirth and renewed life.
And for six months, he stayed with his doting guardian who offered him shelter, riches, and everlasting joy. But as it turns out, the promise of eternal happiness was not so eternal. Soon, the wife of Hades returned to her mother, and the boy was forgotten, thrown back down to Earth to live on his own. To her surprise, he survived on the streets she had abandoned him in, and come fall time, she brought him to her home again.
It was the beginning of a cruel cycle. Six months in paradise, and six months in a warm but unwelcoming world. He spent his first years in between foster homes and orphanages before leaving the cities to spend his earthbound days in the mountainous terrain of Greece.
Fall came, and on his way back to his mother's mansion in Mount Olympus, Luokanos was intercepted by Hermes who swiftly turned him in to Zeus. Enraged by his sister's unauthorized bestowing of immortality, the king of gods cast the boy back down to Earth and left Demeter to grieve over the loss of another child. Though not before Athena granted Luke the power of all-tongues and brokered a deal with the head of Coral Springs to house the boy. For now.
Psychic - Who can penetrate the mind of a god? Loukanos is guarded against psychic invasion from others. He can also sense and influence the emotions of others. He is capable of projecting soothing auras, or that of trustworthiness, or sway mortals to anger, or even send his thoughts directly into the mind of others. If push comes to shove, he can outright command the minds of humans and animals, alike, to bend to his will.
Mystic - Loukanos's brand of sorcery is like no other, not rooted in occult knowledge or rituals, but instead based purely on will and the desire to bend reality. Blessed with the same power the gods used to shape the earth, he has minor control of the elements. His strength lies in life magic, however. He holds power over growth and life, able to cause flowers and even trees to sprout from nothing in a manner of seconds to provide aid and defense. The wisps under his control can also be charged with enough spiritual energy that they detonate. These explosions are quite lethal and unsurprisingly, do not harm the environment.
Divination - The knowledge of the Olympians is vast and near-omniscience. As a champion to one of them, Loukanos can tap into some of that. Not only does it make passing tests and exams child's play, it gives him insight into the pasts of objects and people. His 'sight' is lessened against aliens, but for the most part, he can see what's wrong with mortals physically, emotionally, magically, etc. This ability also works as a mystical radar of sorts, allowing him to sense and identify supernatural creatures and spells. Precognition too, but what he sees and when he sees it is completely out of his control.
Godspeak - A parting gift from the virgin goddess - Loukanos can fluently understand and be understood by any speaker who can speak a language of mankind, old and new. He can talk to animals too! The obvious drawback is he cannot read or write in the language. In truth, he can only speak Ancient Greek and is still in the process of learning to read and write in English. This ability does not extend to alien languages and is undependable against mystical ones such as demonic, magical, etc.
Lyre - Loukanos's instrument of choice. He's got a nice one given to him by Apollo.
Olympian Physiology - As an Olympian, Loukanos's physique is naturally enhanced. Due to his divine heritage, he is stronger, faster, and tougher than the average human. He is virtually immune to blunt force trauma, and his strength is rapidly growing as he enters maturity.
Parlor Tricks - Flashy spells that are not well suited for combat, meant for utility mostly. Conjuration, transmutation, teleportation, minor elemental control, illusions, etc.
Restoration - With the gifts of reincarnation and rebirth, Loukanos can heal from anything, even death. His healing is enhanced to the point where he can recover from scraps and bruises in seconds. Larger wounds, even amputated limbs and decapitation, take longer, sometimes hours, but his rate of healing is growing rapidly. Effectively grants him immortality. He is immune to mundane toxins, diseases, and poisons. These regenerative powers can be extended to others, but less reliably. Healing cuts and gashes can be done without too much trouble, but more than that and the effects are temporary. For example, he could snap a broken bone into place or replace a missing organ, but it would only last for an hour at worst, a few weeks at best. Long enough to continue a fight or get more permanent help, if necessary. Armed with the knowledge that he can not die and having experienced grievous injuries previously, Loukanos's threshold and tolerance for pain are extremely high. The healing effects leave a white or golden hued light on the area of the wounds.
Shapeshifting - Like many deities, Loukanos is not bound to his 'human' form. He can take the shape of other mortals, down to the minute details if needed, and he can also shift into most of the common animals of Earth.
Survivability - Loukanos can survive in any environment on Earth, unassisted. Be it the Artic or the Sahara Desert, he will be fine and mostly comfortable too. The boy does not need food, drink, rest or even breath as he is sustained by the divine essence of Demeter.
Wisps - Imbued with the power to create and shape life, Loukanos can make beings of minor sentience. They generally appear as faint wisps of various colors who do his bidding, but with effort, they can take different shapes such as bears, foxes, lions, birds, and other animals. If there are enough wisps around, Loukanos can mold them into humanoid guards or sentries of divine light. In their base form, they can also be used to bolster and enhance the physical capabilities of his allies.
On the face of it, Loukanos is all he claims to be. A friendly and cultured (albeit slightly arrogant) young god with a welcoming disposition. A boy of smiles, he is always willing to lend a hand to a mortal in need and fights fervently for what is right. It is not out of an eagerness to do good that he strives to aid others, but out of a burdensome responsibility he feels towards the beings the gods created and then swiftly abandoned.
That said, serpents lurk within the most beautiful of gardens, and every rose has its thorns. Lou is no exception…
Agent Of Demeter - Loukanos belongs to the goddess of harvest and agriculture, Demeter. Despite her negligence of him as a child, he is still fiercely loyal to the deity. That said, he takes on many characteristics of her. While usually remaining neutral, when pushed to anger or sorrow or love, he is prone to extremes. The two are in constant communication.
Arrogance Of Gods - Loukanos is slightly narcissistic and wrapped up in his own ego. He knows his power as a self-proclaimed god and doesn't have any problem with letting other people know about it too. Susceptible to flattery and the allure of greater power.
Essence Of Immortals - Loukanos was not born a god. To preserve his immortality, he must consume ambrosia on a semi-regular basis. Should he not be able to, he will lose his powers temporarily and eventually die as he has no mortal soul to fall back on. Demeter gave him a large stock of ambrosia in its liquid form before he arrived at the school. He is determined not to let it fall into the wrong hands. A portion of it flows through his blood naturally, and the ichor is divine in nature. Basically, Loukanos (and his possessions) make for very powerful components to achieving immortality or fueling spells and rituals.
World Of Man - Loukanos has wandered this earth before. For half his life, even. But he has always managed to stick to the forests and mountainous regions. High school in America is different. It is all very new.
