Location

Metis/Prometheus Lobby
This is the lobby of the Metis/Promethius residence hall. The walls are nearly 2 meters (6 feet) thick, and that there are no windows wider than 10cm (about 4 inches). For all that, it's cheery and bright inside, lit with high-quality LED lighting. The travertine floor is covered with warm rugs, there's a fireplace with holographic fire when it's on, surrounded by comfortable La-Z-boy overstuffed sofas. At the other end of the room is a hallway leading to the girls' halls, and stairs and an elevator leading to the boys' halls upstairs. There's also a counter, staffed 24x7 and post office boxes. The defensive turrets in the room are carefully hidden, as are the blast doors that can close to protect the residents. There are rumors of defensive turrets, too, but if they're there, they're cunningly hidden. The lobby's cream paint is accented with Metis green and Prometheus yellow trim, and the emblems of both teams are prominently emblazoned on the wall.

Scene

Sunday evening and most students who have been affected by whatever is happening on the island have falling into an uncomfortable acceptance of the stituation. Besa is on of those students. He lays on one of the lazy boy couches, his canine body curled around on itself as the one front leg that has white gauze from where medical took a blood sample sticks out. His head rests on the arm rest. Cocoa, who is slightly smaller than he is, rests her head on his back. All and all, he looks comfortable, beside the whole being a jackal thing.

Sydney is getting used to having skin again. Which is to say her acne is acting up. Figures. She didn't miss that. She comes downstairs with her ipad in hand, along with a pencil and paper. This probably means studying. She looks over at the Jackal with Cocoa and blinks. Two or three times. Then tries not to laugh. "Okay, I thought I got a raw deal with shape-shifter flu." She's wearing a surgical mask and latex gloves on. How she's going to make the ipad work remains a mystery.

So, now that she's been affected by the shapeshifter flu, she is a mass of confusing 'things'. On the one hand, she's one of the lucky few who's over the moon about her own change. On the other, she's feeling intense sorrow over the dysphoria she imagines many others are feeling that she is familiar with. Her own phone is in hand, text-to-speech enabled, collar still on, as she comes down the stares. Seeing the Jackal elicits a new response though: A blush, which may look odd on the fair fey skin she currently wears. It quickly fades as she schools her face to passivity. She types in as she heads towards the jackal,"<Looking good, Syd.>" And then she drops to her knees in front of Besa, stomach lurching,"<I hope… the other night is between us?>" Then she blushes again,"<I'm sorry. That was cruel of me. How are you?>"

Sydney 's brow furrows with puzzlement. "Callisto?" Then the typing begins. "Oh! Ness!" Her expression turns to determination, and she signs, slowly but steadily, saying the words aloud as she does, "Doing ok. Feeling kind of naked and vulnerable. Hoping I didn't infect everyone else. Missing about 400 pounds of mass somewhere too.>" She shrugs broadly. Then signs more. <Learned some sign. Internet For the win."

Besa's head lifts form the arm rest, those overly large ears swivel in the direction of both girls. An annoyed snort at Sydney's words, he's getting tired of all the snickering. Cocoa doesn't move off of him, but does shift her head so he can turn if he needs to. Those golden eyes widen when Ness is suddenly head level with him. He clearly looks at the phone in her hand and collar, and then makes the connection. Ness! A soft whine at what she says, it sounds affirmative? Eiterh way he lays his head on the couch closer to Ness, although his eyes do flicker of to Syd as well. It's hard to tell what he's thinking.

The girl blinks at Sydney, raising a hand for a moment to wave it away… Then Sydney is signing and announcing her name. She smiles and tucks the phone away, hands moving through the forms with a sort of sense of relieve. "<I'm sorry you're not feeling so great, but you're learning sign quickly… That's great! And you do look good! All that weight loss?>" She offers a sharp, toothy smile, and the effect with her fey features is not entirely… benign-looking. As for Besa? Provided he doesn't move away, he'll get neck-scratches, and forehead-pcks. "<Can I get you anything, Besa?>"

Sydney rolls her eyes, and goes back to speaking. Ness hears just fine. "Yes and no… The secret's kinda out now. I was kind of soft and fleshy when I was meat." She heads toward Besa. "I'm sorry I laughed. It has to be a big pain in the ass to be like that." She doesn't make the obvious dating joke about Besa and Cocoa. It would be mean. She thinks it though. For Besa she translates, "Ness is asking if she can get you something…"

Besa's getting better about being touched. And he's already been through this with Ness, although she didn't realize it was him at the time. So he stills when she scratches, his head tilting slightly with the touch. But then his ears perk up in surprise and then lay down to the sides slightly. It looks adorable, but it may be an embarrassed look. It's hard to tell, he just looks soft and cute and it's hard to resist petting him. Cocoa seems to be enjoying snuggling with her boy in this form. He's much warmer this way! Since he can't 'talk' to either girl he just sighs. This has been a trying week.

Cocoa is the next to receive the same attention as Besa. Scritchscritchscritch. "<Besa, Cocoa, you are so adorable together. I want to take a photo so you can have it when we find a way to get you back to normal. Would you like that?>" Then she's finding an empty spot on the couch to sit, legs crossing,"<I know this has to be rough on most people, but… I'm finally living my life way I should've been born. It's… amazing. I cried for two hours when I woke up this way because I thought it was a dream I was going to wake up. And then I cried two more hours from joy when I realized it was real.>" She throws her head back in silent laughter that she once again has to school herself too. A deep breath, and she is serious again,"<What about you, Syd… are you doing okay being flesh again? You really do look just fine.>"

Sydney makes sure her sweater sleeves are down, and… oh wait, everyone here except Cocoa is already infected. She hugs Ness. "I don't know who to hope for. I can live like this again, I guess. You'd be happier if there's no way to go back, but no matter how adorable he is, Besa's badly screwed if we don't find a way to go back. So is anyone else in an animal form. Except maybe Buddy." She reaches down, trying to catch Besa's eye for permission to scratch his ears. "You ok with this?"

Besa's laying on the couch with Cocoa, both canines seem…content. Besa's golden eyes follow the elf like and he makes a weird movement with his shoulder. Was that a doggie shrug? He gives a soft yipe though before looking at Sydney . A low grumble, clearly not ok with something before he sigh and offers up his head. His new approach is to just let people get the pets out of the way. It's weird that eh likes them, and that is what's uncomfortable. Fo him at least. His fur is very soft though, maybe because his hair when he was a human was so soft and perfect? He does have that scent of dirt still on him though.

"<I figure they'll find a way to fix this, I'll just… decline whatever treatment they come up with. Stay this way. Easy enough. Besa, though… if need be, I'll turn my collar off and shout in the face of anyone with a possible answer if that's what it takes to get you back to yourself. He's Prometheus, which basically makes him family.>" She squeezes Sydney back tightly, a happy expression on her face,"<And if I have to go back… well… it was a nice change from reality. It's not worth other people having to live a personal hell though.>"

Sydney pets Besa's head when he finally offers it. "Not comfortable with it, but it's nice, is that it?" she asks Besa. "Nod for yes, shake for no?" She looks at her hand. "Well, either your curse doesn't work like this, or my nanomachines really have gone somewhere else, or who knows what, but…" About then the band of her watch brushes one of Besa's extraordinary ears. The watch makes a feeble, cheap sounding "Beep" and the display goes blank. "Whoops." Syd sighs. She hugs Ness tight and kisses her neck under her ear. It's not fair, she thinks to herself, that Ness now resembles two people she has crushes on. Callisto, and Ness herself. She nods to Ness's comment. "I guess we'll all find out. Meantime… we have to take what pleasures life offers us in the flesh of the moment, right? I mean… within the limits of the rules, politeness, social diseases and like that."

Treatments? The jacket's ears flick, not liking the sound of that. A soft whine, he doesn't like something that's said. He doesn't respond in the way Sydney asks, instead he huffs, looking as annoyed as a jackal on a couch can. When Sydn's watch bites it, his ears flatten. He knows that sound and his head lowers in a very typical yelled at dog pose. This whole thing is just…hard.

The girl blinks surprisingly when her neck is kissed. She shivers and puts her hand to the place. She frowns, and after she is released, will sign,"<Careful there. You have a boyfriend. I don't wanna make things worse, considering what happened last time.>" She looks at the broken watch, curiously, then sighs and closes her eyes,"<Just… being in this body… I was never as dysphoric as most girls. Now though, to wake up like this… that's a pleasure all on its own. To not feel this… constant feeling that your body is just… wrong? It's like being able to take a deep breath for the first time.>" She fishes in her pocket, though, and after a moment, finally finds a napkin wrapped around some sugar cookies. The napkin is unwrapped and a cookie is offered to Besa,"<Hungry, buddy?>"

Sydney lets go. She squeezes her eyes shut and nods. "I know. I know. Looking how I used to look… makes it easier to slip back into being who I used to be. I didn't think the change changed me so much. I mean… "luminous beings we are, not this crude matter" and all that bullshit." She backs away from the couch and finds a place to sit at a safer distance. "I also want a cigarette really bad."

Besa frowns, well, as much as a jackal can frown. Which is a lot, if one knows what to look for. The kiss from Syd to Ness…. That verifies something in his head and he sighs. That canine nose picks up on the cookie before it's offered, but does she honestly not see that she's offering him a cookie? That may be more insulting than Sky threatening to take him to the vet.His eyes close and he sighs in frustration. Syd's comment about a cigarette makes him sneeze and the give a soft yip with a sharp look.

Ness nods to Syd,"<Just… you know… We can let it go, but… I'm not a 'hussy' or a 'girl on the side', you know? You want help figuring your stuff out, I'll be there for you, as a friend. Maybe you should talk to your boyfriend, though? And no smoking! Your'e too young!>" Hypocrite. The last is signed very emphatically. When Besa doesn't go for the cookie, she shrugs and pops it into her mouth, shrugging. Omnomnomnom. Cookies! "<Besa's right. It smells awful.>"

Sydney rubs her eyes with the "my eyes are tired" rub, rather than the 'crying' rub. "I know, I know, I know," she says to all those things. "It's just frustrating that all my bad habits want to come back just because I look how I did and feel how I did, you know? I missed this body, but I didn't miss who I was in it."

Cocoa shifts on the couch, head coming up to look at the two girls before laying her head back down on Besa. He stays where he is , mostly just watching as well. There's not much he can contribute to a conversation without a telepath around. Eventually he lowers his head to sniff at the bandage on his leg.

The girl hops up then, linking fingers, stretching, and crackles her back. After a moment, she looks down (that's still so new) on all three of them and signs one last time,"<I really do understand. Just… in reverse, I think. I'm going to get something to eat. Either of you want something?>" She points first at Besa, then Sydney.

Sydney shakes her head. "No thanks, I'm good."
