Later, after it was all over, those involved might have a brief thought that it had started out as such a lovely morning.

Good weather, clear skies, and a fairly disorganized bout of friendly sparing out on Paragaon Island. Tabitha was using the morning to blow off some steam and get in some needed sword practice while waiting for her friends to arrive in Shady Cove. The band plus a couple other close friends had decided to turn the delivery of Katrina to her new school as a chance for a road trip. Talia, the band's tech-head, set her up with an app on her tablet to track the crew's progress. She had the tablet leaning on her kit bag and would occasionally check between bouts to make sure they were still more or less on schedule and exchange the occasional text.

##

It's not long after getting a text that said the crew had stopped off for some burgers and soda that Tabitha's tablet pops up a large flashing red icon and emits a shrill klaxon alert. Her face going chalk pale, Tabitha grabs the tablet with her aura and smashes her finger on the icon, adding another crack to the tablet's already beated up appearance. The alert stops and is replaced by a voice and video link.

The video shows the interior of a large van, the extended kind used by schools and the like to transport small groups on field trips, from the perspective of the drink tray between driver and navigator. The van's interior is strewn with assorted teenager trash with some luggage visible in the far back. There is also a large gaping hole in the side behind the driver's seat and a number of mid- to late-teenagers who have moved as far away from said hole as possible. Two of them are nursing wounds of some sort.

##

Tabitha's voice breaks, "Talia, Ter, Trini, anyone! What's going on?!" Hearing her voice gets the attention of one of the guys, a leanly muscled mulato boy with long dreads. He looks over towards the camera and just shouts, "TJ, they took Trini! It's the freaks from Thunder Bay, Goro and Kali with all the arms! And they're not alone! There's a tall guy tha…" The link is cut when a blast of energy comes in through the hole in the van and hits the device on their end.

Tabitha is only in shock for two, maybe three heartbeats. Then every illusion that she maintains to make herself look normal is gone. Her aura flares into existence around her, an energized cloud of electric blue-white mist. Her eyes of burning coals are flaring bright and her glyphs spring into full visibility on her body. And there's another detail that she's only allowed to show once before, the air behind her fills with energy and force to take the shape of a double set of wings formed of volcanic ash.

##

Rissa is still not used to working out with other people. Still, as is common for her, she's not nearly so dressed up or padded. Of course, despite taped-up hands, she hasn't even managed to break or dislocated any fingers this session! Her boyish figure is clad in her usual black tanktop and camo fatigues. Combat boots and a survival knife are her only accessories. A few cuts and bruises, maybe, though already they're showing their golden hue as they knit her grey flesh together. All in all, less dressed up, more… utilitarian.

The girl is sort of peripherally aware of the importance of the day, true, but she isn't really THINKING too hard on it. She's having fun, though. Learning new things. Really getting to stretch her body out and just… Let loose. "Mmmm… This is nice, actually getting out in the sun together and…" Then that klaxon sounds and of course, Rissa has to crowd the table as well. Eyes blinking owlishly,"Uuuuh… is everything oka-" Then video happens, and that question gets answered before she finishes it. EXPLOSIONS. The girl takes a step back as the aura flares, just in time to see Tabitha enter 'rage mode'.

"Uuuuh… Babe… Calm down. We'll go, we'll help. You know I'm with you, but… Maybe going in upset isn't the best?" A pause, a sigh, and she holds out a hand,"Who am I kidding. We're going right away. Take me with you?" The wings? They'll have a talk later.

##

Gabrielle pops back in from a jaunt to the rest room just in time to see Tabitha go all Angel of Ash. After gaping for a moment she tilts her head a little bit to the side and says, "I'm guessing something is really wrong…"

##

Becca is coming in from the trails around Paragon Island jogging. She was doing some phase training and pauses seeing Tabitha. Well, at least she isn't grounded. The phaser hurries over to Tabitha and looks between her and Rissa. "What's happening Tabs? Sibling alert?" She wonders with sharp focus on her roomie.

##

Annaliesa was working nearby with Derek. She's floating a ball of water before hovering it threateningly over his head. Of course she's not really intending to drop it. She hearts the commotion and glances over, brows lifted. As soon as Tabitha sprouts out, the concentration is lost and the ball of water falls on Derek's head. SPLASH. "C'mon, something happened, let's go help out."

##

Derek is focused on one things, training - Arena Fetch. He has a ball and is amidst throwing it and catching it with an orange energy constructed hand, throwing it back to himself. Wings out and flying a little, he's half looking at Liesa, warning not to splash him. But grinning. Then it hits him when klaxon sounds, "Hey, I thought you were joking! You're …" Gonna get it, but she's saying something happened, so he follows her.

##

Oh, man, and it /was/ such a nice day out. Well, it's probably going to still be a workout, just a much more intense one than Jacob was expecting. "Well, here we go again," he says, cracking his knuckles as he runs over to catch up with the others. "What all do we know about these guys, besides 'trouble'? They said it was, what, three of them nabbed her?"

##

Seeing how many people are gathering to see what's wrong or offer assistance is a huge help in keeping Tabitha from just launching this instant. She lets out a shaky breath and manages to /not/ crush the tablet in frustration. "It's the Helix Group again. F3, Kali, and who knows how many others. They took Katrina, the new telepath that was coming here to enroll." Her voice is deeper than usual, with the occasional spark of aura energy visible behind her teeth and under her skin as she fights the urge to just go /now/ and be smart about this. She squeezes her eyes shut and a beat later her aura shifts back out of visual range again, although it can still be felt as a warm charge against the skin of anyone within a half-dozen paces of her.

Her eyes open and she looks around to those gathered. "Anyone who can't fly or can't break the sound barrier either stand close to me or partner up with someone else who can keep up." She shifts her gaze to Derek and Annaliesa and seems to be fighting against something in her head before she says, "We can inform the faculty on the way, but I'm not waiting for them to roll out of bed and catch up."

##

The girl cannot teleport, fly, or break the sound barrier… so she decides to just stand close to Tabitha. She's already fishing for her more rugged phone and tapping out a message. Some sort of quick 'something's going down' message to the faculty? Who knows. It gets tucked away moments later, and then Rissa is nodding,"Helix group. Again? How often does this happen?" A pause. "We'll get her back, Tabby. Remember when I promised to help invert some faces? Time to make a down payment on that promise a little."

##

A frown follows the information and Annaliesa offers a quiet nod of acceptance. "I can go with Derek, he can fly. I can't. He can take me." They've already proven that before so the weight thing was tested. As Ares, they act first, think later and it usually nets them a lot of detentions. Faculty isn't even considered at the moment. "Whatever gets us there the fastest."

##

"Uh, inform the faculty," squints Derek, after getting the look from Tabitha before she taked on that little statement, "I know my detention record is low this year, but," wrong guy. No interest in telling anyone. "If you need a hand, we're in." A nod to Annaliesa, "Yeah, we can keep up. But I can only carry one." If they're seeing who's going with who at least.

##

"Man, I really wish I were faster in the air." Becca grumbles and steps closer to Tabitha. She glances at the Ares kids. That reminds her. Slipping out her phone she shoots off a quick text. "I'll need a lift sadly, I only move at running speed in the air."

##

"I can take one, too, if we need it," Jacob offers. "I'll keep some altitude going so we don't risk hitting a lamppost or something." Well, they could hit a bird if they were /really/ unlucky.

##

Although action is ramping up it still hadn't reached the point where Gabby's shyness totally disappears. So quiety, from the back of the group, she says, "I can teleport one person… But it'll be a rough ride." After her first comment she disappears in a flash of light then a few seconds later she reappears, the practice swords she always carries around replaced with a pair of real, honest to goodness rapiers, strapped to her back.

##

Tabitha nods slightly, the responses from the Ares seniors does manage to loosen her up a tiny bit more. "Right. Go Ares." She tosses her tablet over to Gabrielle when she pops back in with her rapiers. "Here. Rewind the video. You should be able to get a good target view from that. I already know the spot." And with that she doesn't say anything else. She makes sure her aura is securely holding Rissa and Becca, takes a few extra seconds when rising up off the ground to double check they're moving with her. Then she's heading off almost due north across the ocean towards the New Hampshire side of its border with Maine. The shape of her aura alters in flight into larger versions of her volcanic ash force-wings.

##

A bare couple of minutes is all it takes to reach the outskirts of Biddeford, New Hampsire. From the air it's easy to see the signs from a distance. Smoke rising from the damaged tour van, flashes of what seem to be energy blasts, and the sound of approaching sirens all coming from the area of town called Five Points for the roads that converge there. Tabitha slows down somewhat as the group approaches, signaling to the other fliers that she's going to set down behind some trees in the graveyard. It's a compromise between the safety of her passengers and being close enough to reach the smoking van her friends are trapped in.

Once at the actual scene it's fairly easy to spot the players involved. The two six-armed giants that helped attack the Standing Tall final concert are standing back to back in the middle of the road about a half block away from the overturned van. They're wearing high tech body armor and have firearms in their lower hands with which they're trading energy blasts against the more mundane bullets of some police officers who were lucky/unlucky enough to be nearby when things went down. In the McDonalds parking lot, across the streets from the cemetery, there are a pair of sci-fi looking airships of some sort, as well as signs that there were three but one of them has departed and left deep burns in the asphalt. Standing near these ships are an assortment of seemingly human soldiers in armor matching that of the giants. They've taken up defensive positions but aren't actually engaging the police just yet.

In the middle of this group, two people stand out. A woman with wild spiked pink hair whose armor seems a bit more fantasy inspired than that of the others. And a very tall but thin man wearing what seems to be liquid tar. The skin that's visible marks him as an albino and he carries a cane that looks to be simply decorative. He's watching the skies to the south as the group approaches. He seems to be expecting them.

##

The girl actually starts stretching once she is sat down. Eyeballing the giants as they do, she mutters,"I don't know about those guns, but…" Rissa shakes her head a little bit, then looks over to Jacob,"You're strong right? Want to play tag team?" She looks to Tabitha then, as she pulls her survival knife from her hip-sheath, and asks,"You know more about them than we do? What can we expect?" She always did like Jack and the beanstalk. Then again… "Jack had an axe." She mutters this to herself, and then begins to shift from foot to foot, looking some combination of nervous and excited. Pause,"We need to get that van open. They'll choke to death in there."

##

Jacob looks over and nods, gesturing slightly with his hands. In case one of the new bad guys has super hearing, right? He starts off with a quick running start before soaring through the air, but this time the giant sees it coming, a pair of Polish Hammers slamming into his body and sending him crashing into the asphalt nearby. It's his turn to play Ricky Morton today.

##

As the come in, Derek works with Annaliesa. So many pools down there, not all drained, enough water. He'll fly low and head for the Gentek Soldiers, letting her down to focus on Hecate. That done, the boy flys up and uses his energy constructs to make a big fist to try and punch some soldiers. it sort of breaks up the group a bit, but does no real damage. Rather it gets them to focus on him it seems. "Do we have a plan b?" He asks anyone listening of course, the kid likes to talk, too much some times.

##

Becca knows her role. "I've got the non-combatants." She calls out and glances at Rissa. "I can pull them out of the van Ris, if you want to cover us? Use the van if you need, that's good cover." She offers running to the van. Hopefully some of them remember her from the last time she phased so many people. Then she's leaning through the van to offer her hands.

##

It's not a usual look for the mermaid but her senior year, something was changing as was witnessed by anyone who happened to catch her around during school. As soon as school was out, she left Coral Springs and went to her parent's house in Shady Cove and remained there until the next day. There's a narrow eyed look directed towards the pink haired girl, nothing less than malice in her eyes as she studies her. Quietly, she murmurs something and lifts a hand as she pools the water that comes naturally in Hecate's body into her throat to try and choke her out. Or drown her. Whatever happens first. Hearing Derek, she doesn't look over, trusting him in his own battle for now as she deals with her own.

##

Gabrielle appears on the ceiling of the garage across the street from the graveyard. After taking a moment to take in the scene she disappears with her trademark 'pop and flash' and reappears in the air over the human soldiers surrounding the strange ships. THen something weird happens. For a second or two there are two Gabrielle's, one at the garage roof, the other over the ships, both flickering like bad holograms and then She's back on top of the garage, flopping over from the disorientation caused by whatever when wrong with her powers…

##

The male giant doesn't even stop shooting at the police as he brings his upper and middle fists together to swat Jacob down into the road. "HA! Too predictible, boy! Have you learned no new tricks at your school in the sea?" The female giant at his back just rolls her eyes and takes a quick stutter-step towards Jacob before sweeping her leg in a soccer style kick to try and send him flying towards some of the police. "Kali for the goal!"

When the water springs up around her head and neck and cuts off her air, Hecate grabs at it frantically for a second, then suddenly becomes calm. Her body glows a sickly yellow and the water looses its grip on her body. It's still in place around her head but she seems to have no trouble breathing inside it now.

The Gentek soldiers that scattered under Derek's assault scramble for new positions while shooting wildly. A couple of them manage to have good aim while the rest may as well be CIS battle droids for all the damage they do to their intended target. Some others that were still in position duck when Gabrielle tries to teleport in above them. The ship's defensive screen kicks in to stop the teleport, however, and they start scanning the area to try and locate her.

Inside the van, the mulato boy from the alert does recognize Rebecca as she comes into the van. "Everyone, grab each other's hands. It's gonna be weird, but stick to this lady! Do. Not. Break. Your. Grip!"

##

All Tabitha says before wading into the fight is this, "The giants are strong and well coordinated, they're not idiots. Spiky hair is a mage, the rest are gentek alphas. Think super soldier. The other one…" Her eyes flare. "Is all MINE!" She rockets forward just a few inches over the ground, her aura becoming solid around her and forming long javelins of solid energy that she flings towards the tall albino. He doesn't even move out of the way but his liquid tar armor forms tendrils that simply catch the javelins and snap them into pieces while he stands there leaning on his cane.

##

Rissa sees many people doing many things. Her worry? It's for the civvies, though with Tabitha's charge for Draxus? She's not entirely without other concerns,"DAMMIT, BE CAREFUL!" She said a sweeear! Still, when Becca phases into the van? Rissa goes diving for it, digs her feet in, and begins pushing back against the van. In retrospect, the darn thing actually seems a lot lighter than she was expecting. Useful information for later. She changes her grip, waits for Becca to make contact with the people… And will LIFT once that's done. It's like moving cover. And this way, it doesn't make a horrible screeching sound while tearing ruts in solid concrete. Everyone wins.

##

It was a long shot at best and Annaliesa can tell when something she was doing magically was countered. With a narrow eyed gaze, she glances around to see of the condition of the others, and with a change of plans, she focuses more intently on the magic woman with the pink hair and she even reaches out a hand as if she is physically squeezing her fingers around the neck of her, but she twists her fingers then turns her hand, palm up. What happens next, the water from her body, all of it, rises up out of her orifices to pool in a large ball over her head. As the girl gasps at it, seeking it out, a blackish, green fluid leaks out of her and she falls to the ground, still gasping. Certainly, she's not dead, but Annaliesa doesn't look to be relenting. There's an evil look in her eyes as she holds her hand out still, not allowing the water to drop. Instead, she focuses that water from her and looks for an available target to possibly drown, should she find one among the others.

##

"Look out!" Jacob calls out, flailing his arms out to make himself a more obvious projectile. Hopefully they have time to get out of the way. For that moment, it's the best he can think to do. Afterward, though? He does his best to look hurt, which he /is/ but he's playing it up even more… right up until he gets a clear look at that gun in the giant's hands. Hey, giant, remember how Jacob can shoot energy beams out of his eyes, too? You're about to be reminded.

##

"Well, this is gonna feel weird, but we've got ya. So hi, I'm Mirage-it's new, I'm trying it out-and I will be your shield today. So let's keep calm and just hold onto each other and everyone should be safe and sound." Becca smiles at them all warmly and leans her head back to peek through the van at Rissa. "You're awesome lady!"

##

Derek is playing in the minors tonight, or the soldiers are o ntheir A game. He's hovering trying to aim some energy shots their way, and he's making contact. The blasts are hitting the soldiers for al lDerek is doing, but their armor seems made to absorb energy and he's more at a stalemate it seems. Unless one counts the two burn marks he has, one on his arm, the other on his though. Seems their weapons bypassed his shielding when they returned fire, but he tries to do some help to the group. At least as a distration for now.

##

Gabrielle gets up onto her hands and knees, shaking her head to clear the disorientation. Then she peeks over the edge of the garage's roof, gets the lay of the land and disappears. Reappearing in the grave yard for a moment, she looks around, grabs the biggest loose headstone she can find and disappears, leaving behind another flash of light. Almost instantly she reappears above and slightly behind the tar enshrouded villian Tabitha is so intent on. As soon as she is visible again she drops the headstone, flash and pops, and reappears on the ground just out of arms' reach behind Draxus. Her swords make a very clear, distinctive *SHLINK* sound as the come out of their sheaths.

##

It might seem odd in hindsight how little talking the attackers do. Sure, the two giants have their banter but nothing tactical. The armored gentek soldiers grunt or cry out when hit by Derek's constructs but there's no vocal coordination of attacks or orders given. When the van starts moving, the genteks who are not engaging Derek all open fire in a massed group. The energy from their weapons cuts straight through the van's steel walls… and passes straight through Rebecca and her charges inside. Of course the van itself is taking quite a beating.

The rest of the soldiers fan out in groups of two and try to do the same coordinated mass fire to bring down the flying Ares. Their aim is better now that they're focused but they're somehow less effective against his shielding now.

Down the road, Jacob's eye blast catches F3 by surprise. One of his guns is hit hard enough to explode, doing severe damage to the giant's armor and the limb underneath. His howls of pain put Kali into a cold rage. She takes steady aim and fires both of her weapons at Jacob, scoring solid hits on the teen.

##

In the center of all the action it is a somewhat different story. With a flash of energy, Tabitha's… no, Lilith's aura erupts in a blaze of solar fusion plasma. The asphalt she flies over as she engages her creator starts to bubble and melt from the intense heat. Now that she's closer she shapes her aura into a pair of long knives, focusing the solar plasma into their blades. She's about to strike at him when the gravestone comes falling out of the air and she hops backwards reflexively.

##

For his part, Draxus sidesteps as the gravestone is falling but not all the way. He allows it to strike him in the shoulder, but despite all of the pure mass and momentum involved he just stands there as the stone shatters without even hitting his body. And then an eyeblink later, right as Gabrielle is teleporting in and drawing his swords, Draxus's body is surrounded by an energy aura that is a match for Lilith's except that his is a tainted blackish green. At his back also form two pair of force-wings similar to Lilith's, but where hers are formed of volcanic ash, his are shaped from white-purple arcs of solar plasma. He lets out a slow sigh as he dodges Tabitha's strikes and turns so that he's partially facing both of his attackers. The liquid tar suit he's wearing flows down over his hands and forms into a pair of thin curved swords. The cane remains upright next to him.

##

"Yeah, this, I came for a fight," says Derek, taking or dodging some more of their fire. The hint of his own energy around him not far off from their armor, mostly. Still the two scorch marks from where they got him. "Instead got the idiot squad. This is where they send the failures. I guess it pays more than Goodwill at least." That said, he fires a few random shots to just make they are looking. A slight look towards the van, he'll try to lead them away from the area. Seeing as damage is spilling out and there are civilian homes, he wants to take as many random weapons firing away as he can. If he can get some from the van, or catch them in cross fire in the process, all the better.

##

The nearest thing to her was one of the bigger boys and Annaliesa doesn't discriminate, she'll go after the smaller women or the bigger boys and she's got a large ball of water at her disposal for the occasion. With her hand raised still, she guides it swiftly towards the closest one, pooling it around his head, holding it there rather ruthlessly. He doesn't go down, he's fighting it, tearing at the water around his head but his fingers just go through it and he can't get purchase on it. Her expression turns stoic, emotion no where in it at the moment as she effectively distracts him from attacking Jacob further.

##

Rissa is soon to not have much of a van to carry at this rate. She hasn't gotten hit yet, but that's likely to change. So she begins tearing off the mostly gone-roof of the van with one hand, while the other carries. She takes the sheet metal, eyes it… Bounces it in her hand… And sends it soaring like a frisbee. At least it forces them to duck as they take cover,"I'm already picking whose faces to cave in. You're fighting a losing battle, you wads!" Her free hand reaches down to pull her knife. This keeps up, she's going to find out what super-strength-hurled knives do to peoples.

##

Jacob, meanwhile, takes a couple steps forward and jumps up, hurling himself up into the air and then down toward Kali with an extra boost. Those shots from earlier have him still woozy, though, to the point that she's able to swat him aside. Hey, at least he didn't smash into a car this time!

##

Looking up as the roof is torn off, Becca looks back at the other occupants and squeezes the hands she's holding reassuringly. "That's it, just stay calm and hold onto each other. I can keep this up a while yet, don't you folks worry. My friends will help Tabitha get this sorted in no time." She adds and looks over each face with a warm smile. She's doing her best to keep the civilians calm as Rissa gets them away.

##

Gabrielle's eyes flit back and forth between Tabitha and Draxus a couple of times then a tiny, evil little smile crops up on her lips. She feints with the sword in her right hand, forcing Draxus to parry with the blades he's formed out of his armor. BUt instead of trying to follow up with her left-hand sword she drops it, her bare hand flashing out just fast enough to graze the man's knuckles. And that's all she needs. There's a flash and a pop and both Gabrielle and Draxus disappear for a split second, only to reappear almost instantly in the same exact spot. Did her teleport misfire again??

##

There is a non-zero number of people in the world that feel Derek can be aggrivating at the best of times. When he starts to taunt the gentek soldiers between attacks, that number grows by a half-dozen or so. Where they were fighting silently before, now the ones engaged with Derek start to growl and shout curses at him. When he starts flying to lead them away from the fight, one might think that it wouldn't work with trained and disciplined soldiers of an international terror army. But something changes…

The gentek Prime who named himself Fernando Venezuela Hernandez the Third (F3 if you're nasty) is having one of his worst fights ever. First his hand gets blown to crap and now he's drowning with a globe of his sister Hecate's body water around his head! Normally he could just hold his breath but he sucked in a lungfull when the globe formed and now the only thing keeping him this side of the Sea of Tears is his inbuilt toughness. A short distance away Kali lunges after Jacob with a growl and tries to take him down hard. Her guns are dropped in favor of raw strength, but as she swings she can't seem to get a solid hit against the smaller strongman.

##

In the center of it all, the falling gravestone and seeing Draxus take on an aura form almost identical to her own (something she had never seen him do before) has given Lilith a chance to push past her blind rage and start thinking strategically. While Gabrielle is sword dancing with Draxus she takes stock of the battlefield as a whole. Seeing the chaos among the gentek Betas caused by Derek's taunts and Rissa's thrown van roof, she focuses her mind on a part of her gentek heritage she's had no need to use in years. The empathic link that connects all genteks to one another, called Affinity, is a bit dusty but she manages to 'shout' out a command. »>Get that flying annoyance down from the sky! Go after him, all of you!«<

This is the tipping point that sends all of them racing after Derek, their weapons firing in coordinated but mostly futile barages.

##

And what of the teleporting Draxus? Well it seems that the logic that Gabrielle was working from… that two people with similar powers would react in a similar way to her teleportation… proves to be mostly accurate. When Draxus reaappears after teleportation he isn't quite… one solid being. For a few heartbeats there is just a towering being comprised of poisonous black-green energy. But then that being is wrapped first in the albino flesh of Draxus and then in the liquid tar armor. But where this put Tabitha down for the count for nearly two days, Draxus seems much less phased by the experience. In fact he looks downright pissed off.

"THAT IS QUITE ENOUGH!" He grabs his cane, which was standing up on its own while he fought, and slams it down on the ground. Two waves of errupt from theh impact point… The first is a wave of sub-artic cold, while the second is a concussion wave meant to send anything it hits flying.

##

When the hammer is dropped by Peter Draxus, the world around him seems to stop. Then the wave of cold sweeps out followed by explosive force of immense power. Derek and the genteks chasing him are either too high in the air or have enough distance to escape all but the most minor effects from the attack.

##

Gabrielle teleports out just a hair too late but escapes the damaging blast wave.

##

Lilith can't even scream before the cold freezes her in a wind-driven ice formation. When the blast wave hits it, everything shatters. Her scream is lost in the noise.

##
Annaliesa wasn't prepared. Well maybe she thought she was, she was pretty sure she had the upper hand with the water surrounding the guy and she was almost certain he would be passing out any second now. What happens next, she doesn't predict at all and there's nothing she can do to prevent it as a blast of ice is shot at her rendering her powers useless completely so the hit is brutal, blasting her up and back like a rag doll in an explosion. Hitting the debris scattered around, she's knocked out cold, her right arm sticking out at an awkward angle and open cuts seeping out blood while a more severe gash on her left shoulder oozes blood.

##

Over behind the Burger King, Rebecca and the kids in the van are again spared any ill effects thanks to being out of phase with the attack in its entirety.

##

While the blast hits her and even does a bit of damage, Karissa's inhuman biology mostly shrugs it off. The same can be said for Jacob and the two giants, who mostly remain standing through its effects (although now F3 has the issue of his head being encased in solid ice).

##

There is a moment in the wake of the attack where all is silent and still, almost everything is held back from preception by a white mist in the air. When it clears, Draxus is gone and so are Hecate, F3, and Kali. Both of the airships is rapidly taking off, becoming invisible as it rises and arrows towards space while the other angles its flight to the southwest. And in the center of the destruction left behind is the body of Tabitha Jones, her rapidly thawing corpse starting to seep bright crimson blood in a large pool around it.
