Library

The School's library spans the very bottom of the old fort to the top of the Admin Hub. The center is open so one can see all the way from the bottom to the sun roof that lets the rays in, some full three to four stories in total height, no matter what level the student is on. It has several smaller alcoves with tables and comfy chairs for reading on the upper levels. A small cluster of research computers is set up for students who prefer internet searching to page turning located on the main school floor. Anywhere there's isn't bookcases inspirational posters are plastered against the walls. The check out is near the bottom, always manned and in order, the insignia for Coral Springs and the starting date on 1991.

The large grouping of such eclectic books leaves a dryness to the air and in some sections a faint musty odor. Anyone caught talking above a whisper will first get a stern glare and then be asked to leave if they can't quiet down.

With things being fairly new this year, Ollie has decided, for now, to keep the job in the Library and not go back to the MugShot. She may later change her mind, but at least, with students about, there's more to do. She's currently gathered one of the carts of books to be returned to the shelves and is working her way through the stacks, putting the books back in their proper place. It's tedious, but it's not sitting.

Nightmares and lack of sleep has left Rain on headachey and on the grumpy side. This has led her to seeking the quiet solitude of the library. She isn't at a table though, nope she would be too easy to find that way. She has made herself comfortable on the floor in one of the aisles. She sits leaning against one of the bookshelves, legs stretched across the aisle book laid open on her legs as she reads the pages.

Oliver moves the cart into the aisle that Rain has chosen and jerks it to a halt when she sees her there. She blinks for a moment before grabbing the books that need to go back in that aisle and pushing the cart aside. She can do this herself, right? She does work her way down the shelves and when she comes to the one closes to Rain, she clears her throat and offers an apologetic smile, "Sorry…I need to put a book back down there. It'll just take me a second!"

The Athenian girl's head lolls to the side as she looks up at Oliver. Rain is still in her school uniform, so it is easy to tell what team allegiance she has going on. The expression on her face conveys that she might not have heard what was said to her, but her gaze falls on the cart and the books in the other girl's hand and she can figure it out. "Oh, sorry." grabbing the book on her thighs she scrambles to get out of the way "No need to apologize, you weren't in my way."

Ollie already changed into leggings and a long, flowy shirt…she didn't want to be moving up and down the shelves in the shirt of the uniform. That, and leggings are comfortable! She gives the younger girl a grin, "Thanks. Uhm…wouldn't one of the chairs be more comfortable? I tried asking for beanbags, but I think there would be fights over who got to sit in them." At least, that was the reason she was given and she couldn't really argue.

Crouching down, she quickly slides the books back on the lower shelf before stepping away, "Thanks…"

Rain smoothes her own skirt quickly, wrinkles are the sworn enemy to the well put together girl and she gives Oliver the once over "That's a cute top. Though you should wear a belt with it, other wise it looks like it is wearing you and not the other way around, ya know." leave it to the fashion conscious Rain to give unsolicited advise about how to wear things. There is a glance towards the tables "Therein lies the problem." what..therein? What kind of teenager talks like that? This one does obviously. A nod is given "I can see how that would be a problem. The library is no place for fighting."

Ollie looks down at herself and then grins back to the younger girl, "Yeah, but I couldn't find one I liked." Not where they went shopping last, at least, or she couldn't find one she liked enough to spend what they asked for it. "It's sort of a work in progress." But she does smooth down the top some before glancing from Rain to the tables and then back. "The tables are good for studying, yeah, but not much else. I really think they should have couches or comfy chairs in here, but I always get 'But they're all over the Dorm Hubs' as an answer." There's a pause before she holds out a hand, "I'm Ollie. You must be new because I haven't seen you much before. I think I saw you around this summer a little…" those few times when Ollie wasn't otherwise distracted.

Rain gives a nod to Ollie "I get that. Sometimes getting an outfit together isn't easy, especially if you can't find that piece you want or like." when it comes to clothes and fashion the girl understands. "Comfy chairs and couches would be dangerous in a room full of books. You're just asking for students to come in and fall asleep while reading." and she doubts the librarian wants to deal with that at all. "I'm Rain." she shakes the offered hand in a polite fashion. "Probably. My brother needed help so we both came here early."

It's after classes and the library has its usual lack of students for this time of day. There is Oliver and Rain amoungst the shelves talking quietly as the former reshelves books, and there are probably a few others using the computers to check their social media pages, but that's about it.

'Nice to meet you, Rain and it's kind of nice here in the summer, isn't it?" Ollie then considers Rain's comments a moment before she frowns a little in thought. Her top then shifts, a wide, braided leather belt appearing at her waist, cinching the top in. "Better? I saw one like it, but wasn't in the budget." She then smooths down the rest of the flowy top over her leggings. There's another moment of thought before her simple ballet flats become knee-high boots, the same brown as the belt. "Too much?"

Oh, hey look. That's sort of like an un-gothy Sky! He did mention he had a sister, and she sort of resembles him. Sort of. So when the awkward girl with the slightly too-deep voice speaks up, it is to Rain. She's also signing when she does,"You… you've gotta be Sky's sister, huh? He's such a stonecold badass."

Yes she TOTALLY has her uniform on! Oliver gets a look a moment later, and a thumbs up,"LOVE the boots, ladybumps. Very risque. Tres chic."

Rain is defintely not goth, and with her uniform still on, with its red trim, perfectly done tie and looking put together as she almost always does, she looks, well preppy, which is probably about as ungoth like as you can get. She doesn't bat an eye when Ollie forms a belt from no where, but she is probably used to all sorts of powers and displays like that. The arrival of the goth girl has her looking at her "I'm sorry? You must be mistaking my brother for someone else. None of my siblings are stonecold or badasses." said with deadpan seriousness. At Rissa's opinion of the boots she gives a meh kinda look, but voices an opinion as well, "For club hopping in New York, no, for shelving books in the school library, yes." totally to much for the library.

"Ladybumps?" Ollie looks surprised at that name, but actually smiles a little. "Thanks! I'm not sure risqué is what I'm going for though," she looks back to Rain as the younger girl mentions that it might be more appropriate for clubbing in New York. Again, she's not sure so…there's a compromise. The knee-high boots become slouchy booties…no heels. She hasn't practiced with those yet. She looks between the Goth girl with the lower voice and Rain as they talk about her brother although she does seem a little confused a the sign language.

As if the odd-look reminded her, she stops signing,"Sorry. Your brother got me going, and I guess I just… WENT." She laughs in a sort of nervous giggle at that. And then Rain shoots down the boots and the Rissa is suddenly looking very sheepish. Good thing she only has to blush consciously. "Ladybumps. 'Cause you're a lady, and that makes you bumpy in the right ways."

The girl looks down at her own shape, then over at Oliver, and self-consciously crosses her arms. She does not in fact address it verbally. "/I/ liked him. He was super-nice."

There really is no comment or reaction for the Athenian girl on the ladybumps comment. At 14 she really doesn't have much going for her in that department just yet herself. "Now those could work in both locations." Rain gestures to the booties that are on Ollie's feet now. "You mean with the signing?" she thought for a moment that Rissa may have been deaf too, she of course doesn't know that she actually is, and just was good at the speaking part. "I never said he wasn't nice. And I am glad that he is making friends." she leans forward a bit toward Rissa "Maybe you can help him with his guyliner issues." while her own makeup is quite nicely done and natural looking, it is definitely not the goth look he prefers.

Rissa's explanation actually gets a little laugh from Ollie, but then she offers a smile, "Thank you." She actually spent a little while figuring how she wanted those 'bumps' to work. A hand then goes out to the new girl, "I know I would have seen you before. I'm Ollie. Welcome to the school." She does need to get back to shelving books, but socializing is just much more fun!

She looks between Rain and Rissa as they discuss Rain's brother, "I haven't met him. What grad is he in? And he does the sign language like you two were doing?" Because she surely would have noticed that! There's a pensive look as eyeliner is mentioned…well, 'guy'liner, but then she shakes her head. Ollie's face is actually quite makeup-free.

"He's a nice guy. Really." Karissa hears with her teeth right now, but no need to pass that particular note along, she supposes. "I've got plenty of eyeliner to share. I've never done guyliner, but it should totes work on the same principle right? 'Cause bad makeup when you don't need it to be is totes banay-nay." Yeah. She just said 'totes banay-nay.

Rissa refocuses on Oliver again, still very jealous of his curvature and properly ladylike squishyness,"He does sign. I'm kind of new here myself. Third day." She reaches out to take the hand, shaking it gingerly. She's still learning fine control right now. "He's a… Freshman I think. I'm Karissa, but everyone calls me Rissa." That's a lie. One person calls her Rissa.

"We are both freshmen. Twins." Rain gives a nod to Ollie "He was born deaf. So yeah we both do the sign language." not that they need it to speak with each other but she isn't going to mention that part. The girl rubs at her temple "I think I'm going to go take a nap before dinner. See if I can get rid of this headache." if she can sleep without nightmares. "Later you two." she then takes the book to check out and heads out.
