May the sun bring you new energy by day, may the moon softly restore you by night, may the rain wash away your worries, may the breeze blow new strength into your being.
Dylan had a fairly happy childhood in New Mexico. That was until he was eight years old, when both of his parents were killed in a car accident. Dylan had been in the car with them but was miraculously unharmed. He went to live with his maternal grandmother, who lived on the Apache reservation. While his mother had taught him a little of the Apache language, she had always tried to distance herself from her mother's heritage, as she was only half-Apache herself. Even though Dylan missed his parents, his time with his grandmother was a happy one too. Unfortunately, four years later, his grandmother's health began to fail, and she needed to be put into an assisted living program. The state decided that she was not up to the challenges of raising a twelve year old boy, and having no other immediate relatives who were willing to take him in, he was put into the foster care system.
The first foster home was not bad, but it was just overcrowded after his foster-mother discovered that she was pregnant with twins. After that it was a series of ill-placed homes. The last one being the worst. The couple that took him in did so only for the money that came with him. Their son was a couple years older than Dylan and made life a living hell for him. The woman was at best purposefully blind to what was going on, and the man was downright physically and emotionally abusive. Dylan would often think about how he wished he was anywhere else. Then one night, he was doing the same, and the next thing he knew he was standing in the living room of what had once been his grandmother's house. Needless-to-say, the family that was living there was surprised to find a teenage boy standing in their living room during the middle of the evening news. He was brought back to his foster-home, and then promptly punished for "running away".
When Dylan's homelife became unbearable, he started hanging out at the park, at a local diner playing pinball, pool, and darts, and just hanging out on the streets. That was when he started hanging out with the "wrong crowd" and getting into trouble with the police. As his "home" was becoming more and more unpleasant, Dylan started crashing with friends more and more. His foster parents didn't care as long as they got their monthly check. By this point, Dylan had discovered that he had powers and was beginning to learn how to best make use of them. He was able to steal things without worrying about getting caught on the lift itself, since he could just call it to his hand, and if he did end up getting caught, then he knew that no handcuffs could hold him for long.
From the group of hooligans and punks that he associated with, he caught the attention of another group - individuals, who like himself, had special gifts. Dylan found himself in a tricky situation. His new friends weren't the type to exactly take no for an answer. From just petty theft to bigger jobs, to helping smuggle people across the border. The longer that he was with them, the less Dylan was comfortable with them, but a couple of them made it clear that leaving wasn't an option, at least leaving in one piece.
The problem with a group of super powered criminals is that eventually they draw the attention of super powered crime fighters. When this happened, it offered the fifteen year old Dylan a chance to get away from them. Unfortunately, this did not set well with his former gang members. A couple of them vowed that if he didn't get them out, then when they did, they would make him pay for his betrayal.
Energy - This is the core power of Dylan's ability to teleport things, others, and himself. Whenever he utilizes his teleportation powers, there is a small release of thermal energy, causing a flare on infra-red.
Skipping - Skipping is Dylan's ability to teleport himself. He can only teleport to a place that he can see or to a place that he has already been. The more familiar he is with a place the easier it is for him to 'Skip' there. He is able to Skip with other people, but only if he is in physical contact with them. He is only able to carry a number of people, including himself, as he has points into Skipping.
Snatching - Dylan can teleport things to and from his hand. He must be able to see what he is teleporting and to where he is teleporting it, unless it is on his person. He can just "Snatch" something from his backpack or pocket to his hand.
Portal - Dylan is able to open up a portal through a solid obstruction, that people are able to walk through. He can open a portal through a wall or locked door to the other side. These portals lead only back and forth through the obstacle, lasting as long as Dylan maintains concentration on it.
Flicker - Much like the way that Dylan can portal through a solid object to open up to the other side, Dylan has learned to perform countless micro-teleports allowing him to alter his density so that he can phase through solid matter.
Snatching and Skipping (himself) does not take a lot out of Dylan. Skipping with others and portalling tires Dylan out much more quickly. A brief Flicker doesn't take much out of him, but prolonged Flickering starts to drain his energy levels fairly quickly.
Chip on his Shoulder - Because of everything that Dylan has been through he has a bit of a temper. He is resentful and has a problem trusting new people. Because of his temper, he is easy to emotionally manipulate and goad.
Friends in Low Places - The members of the former criminal gang that he belonged to have it out for him, since they perceive it as betrayal that he did not help them escape.
Silver-haired Grandmother - One of the reasons that Dylan was willing get involved with his former team was that he feels that he has to help take care of his grandmother. He regularly Skips to where she stays to visit with her and to make sure that there isn't anything that he can get her.
Merinthophobia - Dylan has a fear of being bound. This is a result of being abused from his last set of foster parents and their biological son. While he is capable of Flickering through restraints such as ropes and handcuffs, he has to regain control of himself in order to do it. He is able to Skip out of non-physical bindings, such as being held by telekinesis. Just being tied down is enough to give him a panic attack. Handcuffs are not nearly as bad as it is just his arms, especially if it his wrists are bound in front of him. Being put into something like a coffin where he can barely move is enough to induce a panic attack. It comes down to the difference of being restrained and being bound. As long as he can move, he is just restrained. If he is bound in a way that he cannot move, then he is bound. If he is restrained (ie. handcuffs, ropes, TK) in front of him, he is able to Flicker or Skip out of the situation. If he is restrained behind him, he must maintain his self-control or start to panic (Must make a simple Presence Check, in order to Flicker of Skip). If he is actually bound, while he may manage to keep from losing himself to a full panic attack, he is incapable of having it together enough to be able to concentrate enough to use his "gifts" to get out of the problem.
